Preventative Dentistry

Preventative Dentistry

Our staff offers a range of preventative dentistry in our office located on Zebulon road in Macon, to keep your smile looking and feeling great. We offer routine cleanings, exams and x-rays for adults and children. The goal of preventative dentistry is to find and reverse the early signs of tooth decay and gum disease.

We recommend sealants for children and adults. Sealants are applied to the groves on the chewing surfaces of the teeth that are so narrow not even a tooth brush can clean them out. The seal created with composite resin will prevent decay in these areas as long as it is in place.

We also recommend fluoride treatments in our office to help remineralize tooth enamel and stop the beginning stages of decay.

Because only a portion of tooth structure is above the gum line and visible, x-rays are an important aspect of preventative dental care. Tooth decay on the surface can be diagnosed through a manual exam looking for soft tooth structure. However, decay in-between teeth or further down in the dentin can only be diagnosed through dental x-rays. Our state of the art x-ray system emits less radiation that a typical microwave making it safe and effective.

We recommend and most insurance plans cover preventative procedures twice a year for patients.      Call Us
